October goals…

I recently discovered Rebecca Thorman, thanks to Brazen Careerist, and she “hosts” a “Monthly Goal Meetup,” where people are supposed to post their monthly goals on their blog. My life has been “go go go” ever since classes began (and September equally dragged and was over before it began, if that makes any sense), so I think I need to refocus my priorities. A list of monthly goals may help me accomplish that. So here goes.

Goal 1: Market Landmark Editorial. I created a facebook ad today, which may not be exactly the audience I want to target, but I’ll try it for a month and see what happens.

Goal 2: Workout at least two times a week.

Goal 3: Spend at least 30 minutes training my filly at least two times a week.

Goal 4: Winterize my house.

Goal 5: Celebrate accomplishing goals 1-4 with a kickass halloween party on the 31st!!

Goals are great but you might want to use these happy questions as you make your way…

I was in your position about 2 years ago. Unless you strike a big lucky client, you’ll never suddenly have enough work to freelance full time. It’s not a choice you can suddenly make. The choice you suddenly make is that x-amount of months or whatever from now, you want to be freelancing full time. It may happen sooner than that, it may take longer, but making the choice to go directly towards something rather than do projects for the sake of extra money will make the difference.

Eventually the hustle becomes so engrained in you that you don’t even realize you’re working 70-80 hours a week and the day job is just a few hour long distraction that pays bills while you build up what you really love; your writing.

Keep at it, I know you’ll get there.

@notsoliteral Thanks for the pep talk ;) I have a sticker on my monitor at work that says “Patience, Katie”… yet even though I see it every day, it’s sometimes hard to put into practice.
