It was the summer of ‘90…
By the time I was 9, I had been taking my (sister’s) pony, Sunny, to horse shows for 2 years. The county fair was the highlight of the summer of 1990, and I immersed myself in competition… showing my dog, my rabbit, my calf, and my horse (and probably a number of craft projects as well!).
I don’t remember if I was always competitive, or if it’s something I learned, but I think it’s pretty certain that the summer of 1990 had a lot to do with why I have such a strong desire now to always be the best at everything I do.
I won reserve champion with my jersey calf.

And then we got interviewed on tv!

Sunny and I won grand champion showmanship at the fair and at other horse shows.

And Skipper and I won grand champion.

My haul from the fairs was plentiful:

And summer was just beginning!
Oops, she (Dolly) was a Guernsey, fawn and white.
